Many people want to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on their face, restore their jaw line and get rid of the fullness in their neck. Sometimes, men and women in their 40s, 50s or 60s begin to notice they look tired and decide it’s time for a change — but they are adamant against an invasive procedure like a facelift.
What is AccuLift?
AccuLift is an alternative to a facelift, and it is the first and only laser-assisted facial contouring procedure available in the United States. The AccuLift procedure is a one-time 30-minute procedure to rejuvenate the face and address areas of lower facial aging, including under the chin and along the jawline.
An AccuLift procedure is performed using an AccuSculpt laser to reduce jowling and contour the chin area in an outpatient, minimally invasive manner. The goal of the procedure is restoring a more youthful neckline and jaw. It is performed under local anesthesia with a few small needle punctures, through which the AccuSculpt laser fiber is inserted. When the laser energy reaches fatty tissue in the treatment areas, that fat is broken up and goes from a solid to a partial liquid state (emulsion). This fat is then removed through a small liposuction procedure.
The AccuLift procedure tends to be much more affordable than surgical intervention. It is FDA-approved for men and women aged 20 through 70. Men tend to have thicker skin, so it is not uncommon for the tightening effect to take longer.
Is AccuLift a Substitute for a Traditional Facelift?
AccuLift is not a substitute for a facelift or a mini facelift. Instead, it’s an option for people who are opposed to a more invasive procedure or those who do not need a great deal of intervention. Because the procedure is new, it is not yet known how long the effects last. Many surgeons use AccuLift for mild to moderate fatty tissue deposits, or as a touch-up after a facelift.
AccuLift is not a wrinkle reduction technique but instead a treatment for specific problems like noticeable jowls.
While it does not offer the same results as a facelift, it does produce a vast improvement in the lower face and produces a more youthful neckline and jaw line. The change is also natural looking and very subtle.
Not everyone is a good candidate for an AccuLift procedure. Patients who have loose skin, very thin faces or a lot of sun damage will not see much benefit. This is because the AccuLift procedure does not target deep tissue, so it cannot address excess skin, only excess fat.
