On June 3, 2013 many customers of JPMA got an email from an ID apparently belonging to JPMA editor-in-chief. The email demanded from users to send a donation of $250 from the recipients on behalf of Dr. Fatema Jawad, who is currently Editor-in-Chief of JPMA.

The email was apparently sent by some malware originating in the computers of JPMA. This email also sent a wave of Facebook and Twitter messages from doctors and medical students targeting JPMA.

JPMA should take notice of such unsolicited emails and explain to the audience who recieved such fraudulent communications from a reputed journal.
