Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is celebrating 200 issues this month of ECFMG Reporter.
In a newsletter addressed to its members Emmanuel G. Cassimatis, M.D., President & Chief Executive Officer of ECFMG said, “I am pleased to bring you the 200th issue of The ECFMG Reporter. For more than a dozen years, this newsletter has delivered important news to international physicians, news related to ECFMG services, entry into graduate medical education (GME) in the United States, and other career development opportunities. Today, nearly 200,000 individuals around the world receive The ECFMG Reporter. We are celebrating these important milestones by giving the Reporter a new look, which we hope adds to your experience in using this publication.”
New and old services ECFMG Reporter talked about in the newsletter marking 200th issue were:
- ECFMG Certificate Holders Office (ECHO) was launched in 2012 aimed at providing free resources for international physicians pursuing U.S. GME.
- Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC℠) was launched in 2012 for physicians to build a career portfolio of the credentials related to their medical education, training, and registration/licensure.
- Global Education in Medicine Exchange (GEMx) will be launched this year to facilitate and promote international exchange in medical education, providing medical schools and students with access to the two most essential components of effective exchange programs: information and community.
- FAIMER® Distance Learning (DL). is an initiative of ECFMG’s Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and international partners and will offer educators the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of health professions education, and particularly assessment and accreditation.
