According to 2011 report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), male plastic surgery procedures are on the rise in the United States. The latest study shows nearly 800,000 procedures were done on men alone. Overall cosmetic surgery procedures in men rose six percent in 2011 over the previous year, with a total of 1.2 million surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures conducted.
20,000 breast reduction surgeries were performed on men in 2011. This was an increase of 8% from 2010, in which 18,000 procedures were performed. Most of these surgeries were performed on male patients suffering from gynecomastia.
