Fried egg appearance is a term used in pathology to describe abnormal cells found in some diseases.

Causes

  • Mycoplasma Pneumoniae fried egg colonies on Eaton agar
  • Oligodendroglioma
  • Hairy cell leukemia on bone marrow biopsy
  • Seminoma on light microscopy
  • Parietal cells of the stomach due to acidophilic cytoplasm & large central nuclei.
